Thanked: 0Solingen Straight Razor
I have had this straight razor for 27 yrs. I have no idea how old this is or what it could be worth to a collector. If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

It's good razor.
I have one Kiebitz and it's my best shaver. If I'm not wrong Kiebitz had very short operating period between 1931-1935.
I think scales not original and they was replaced (just IMHO).
From this pictures I can say that blade in very good conditions. You can easily make it shave ready (just send to someone from classifieds on this site).
Oh, and I think box also not from this razor.

Hi, and welcome to SRP.
It looks like a nice razor, I'm sure it will shave well once properly honed.
Do get it honed by someone experienced, and then give it a go
As to the value of it, here is a snippet from the SPR rules:
"Solicitations, valuations, and sales
These are not allowed on Straight Razor Place, including the Chat, except in the Vendors and Auctions sections, and the Classifieds, under the respective rules.
SRP's aims to help members in all aspects of wet shaving and straight razor techniques, it is not a marketing site. Furthermore the nature of appraisals, be they for items or services, is highly subjective."

clean it polish it, get it honed. it is a decent brand and since you have had it 27 years it is time to put it to work. you will like the straight way of shaving.
the scales are most likely celluloid cast in a mold not carved like you were thinking.Last edited by syslight; 04-27-2012 at 11:55 AM.
