Default When is a wedge not a wedge

Picked up a used Boker Edelweis today, not new production I think, but vintage. Is it normal for the "wedge" to be flat rather the wedge shaped on these straights? On the only other straight I have the wedge is wedge/triangular shaped. Kind of odd looking when viewed from above with the blade open.

I've can't think of seeing any non tapered wedges with vintage tho the taper can be slight. Possible it was replaced for some reason ?

I would have said no up until last week, I fixed a Boker Edelweis with bone scales that was built with a spacer, which messed up the whole razor..
The scales were too stiff and with no flex the pivot it kept loosening the pin..

After the spacer was turned into a wedge it fixed all the problems...

This does not have bone scales just the run of the mill plastic and the blade was loose on this one too so I peened it. Now I am wondering if it was late production or the scales were replaced. I'll try and post some photos in the morning.

I've also restore a vintage Taylors 1000 with a spacer and that was totally original, i think there are a few out there, as Glen said it sorted out a few problems when they made a wedge, you could say fitting a spacer is a more difficult job, because your blade scales and fittings must be perfect or you will never get your blade to centre correctly.

Just some photos. Can anyone say if these are the original scales?

Hard to tell as I can't see both pins, but I have seen those type of scales on a Boker before

Thanks ^, at least now I know that they did come this way. I will grab a couple of shots of the pins and post them. If they are replacement scales they will serve the purpose when shaving. Next project is to get her honed.

    Very good pics BTW

I would call those the same, the lock collars both have the exact same look...

This is a good indicator that they are original, it is not 100% because people changed scales back then also but it is a good indication A good restorist always changes both pins when re-pinning so they match, but many times people just change the pivot pin and it is a dead giveaway with unmatched pins...
