Size: 4.1 KB Hi just bought my first razor and I was very pleased to find this website and all the expertise. I was wondering if anyone could provide me with information about it. Such as year? what model it is? Where it was made? and how much it is worth? I had to have it when I saw it at an antique store so I hope I didn't pay to much. I think it's in great shape but what do I know??? Anyways, I go get my haircut at an old time barber and he uses a straight edge so I would also know if this can be sharpened and used again? I'm in San Diego, CA Thank you all.

Welcome to SRP Rigo. That is a real pretty razor. It was made in Geneva NY by the Geneva Cutlery Co which later changed it's name to Genco. Valuations are not allowed on SRP so we can't helo you with it's value but searching ebay for completed auctions may assist. I may have seen that razor style and make in the past but it doesn't show up every day. This thread has some links to info on the company: http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...y-history.html If you are happy with the purchase than you didn't pay too much for it.

Here's a link to the Genco razor club: http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...enco-pura.html

That's a nice razor, but from the look of the pivot pin it's possible those aren't the original scales. It's hard to tell by looking at photos, but that doesn't appear to be a factory installed pin. Those scales are beauties and really set that razor off.

That was my first thought. The vast majority of gencos and genevas are plain jane, so to see one with such ornate scales threw me for a loop. If those are original that's one great find!
