Antique Boker Find
i've read on SRP that older Bokers make nice shavers. So, i was in an antique store a couple days ago. i came upon this Boker king cutter 5/8 straight razor, some staining, no rust, nice straight edge, hardly any spine wear. there was a price tag on it for $12. i said, "i'll take it"! i brought it home, sharpened it up, and shaved with it yesterday morning. really nice shave. i'm happy i could add to my small but shave ready collection. check out the pics...

Nice find, especially for 12 bucks! Doesn't it feel good to hone your own razor, to bring it from dull to shave ready? Very cool.

yes, i really like sharpening them, too. watched a lot of videos, and did a lot of reading here on SRP. the first time i tried, it just seemed to work for me. i set the bevel on shapton glass 1 k, heavy pressure circles, 20 x strokes. 3 sets. then light pressure circles on shapton glass 4 k, 20 x strokes. then pyramid honing on naniwa ss 5k - 8k. then finished with about 10-15 x strokes on naniwa ss 12k. then 100 laps on SRD premium 1 3" leather strop. thanks to all who posted vids!

ha ha. not to worry. i was thinking about that myself. the word fine didn't make any sense, and after some reflection, the word mine had to be the only fit.
