They are a good shaving razor but really no better than non framebacks. Variety is the spice of life.

They shave no different than any good razor. I like them due to the "difference", but other than that I can't see any benefit at all in them...actually if you are looking to get into one watch for the "fat tang" & rust where the hard blade was put into the softer spine/tang. You will either really like them or simply not care for them. Give one a try is all I can say...

I have an old nice eskilstuna frameback that shaves my whiskers like the skin of a toad on a cheese grater. Love it. Pkus, if I break my blade I can just slide another blade in.

I have never met a swedish frameback that wasn't a great shaver.
It doesn't mean they're better than others though - a lot of it comes down to preference.

The best way I have found to describe shaving with a frameback is like a hollow wedge, it's thin, light and stiff.

I've had a several swedish, and a Japanese, they all shaved great, but personally I prefer my regular grinds.

I have yet to shave with a frame back, but I have a Toyo Schoen Burg on the way....finally one of my dream razors crossed off the list! all I have left for production razors are a nice swede, a Les Croix, a fili, and a king pelican...and maybe someday a Kamisori but then I am done with production razors!! i swear
