Greaves
Afternoon Gents,
I am watching a scalloped spine Greaves and Sons razor on eBay. Looking at the pictures, the razor appears to have a hairline crack near the foot of the blade. Should I stay away?

Just going by the pictures, I'd stay away from it.

If there are photos of the other side of the blade, they would give you more of a clue too

I was watching this too bud I opted out because of the crack. How are Greaves in comparison between the W&Bs, Rodgers, etc?

Thanked: 443I'd say that blade shouldn't even be up for sale, unless clearly marketed as damaged.

Thanked: 45From the auction listing, "BLADE DOES HAVE A HAIRLINE CRACK TOWARDS THE FOOT OF IT BUT IT WOULD NOT AFFECT THE USE OF THE RAZOR FOR SHAVING"
Yes it can!!! I would not shave with a cracked blade, it's unsafe and not wise. I wonder if the seller uses straights and if he would put that razor against his face?

The crack might not affect shaving, but will quickly rust.

Thanked: 45I agree that the disclosure of the crack is a good thing, but I feel it's a disservice to beginners and potential buyers stating that a cracked blade won't affect the use of the razor for shaving. It's just not worth the risk IMO.
