    Default Pin removal

I have a Dovo 5/8" Best Quality and have noticed a good bit of rust building up right under the pins. I'd like to remove the pins so that I can clean the rust off if possible. Can someone please tell me the best way to do this? Thanks!

There's an article in the library on un-pinning and pinning scales:

I use a needle file to remove the peened end of the pin, and to protect the scales I use a hole-punch on a square of electrical tape like so:

I like that idea Matt. I just put the tape on and started filing with a more agressive side of my three sided file, then move to the finer one to slow it down a bit.

    Hint:

Newer Dovo pins are one sided, the lock collar is normally on the back side, and they normally have 2 collars, the bullseye looking head on the front side will not realease , it is simply a nail head.. (front and back are the way they should be, but I have seen them put in backassward too)

Either use Flush cutters carefully on them, or the file method as shown, and it should pop loose..

The old pins and locks cannot be re-used

Do you know where one could procure new pins and locks?
