Feather Artist Club SS.......First shave & I'm Impressed!
Well, having only used straights (Mastro Livi Regrind and a Ragg) for the past several years, I took the plunge and bought the Feather Artist Club SS, and all I can say is I'm impressed, very impressed!!!
I did consider the RG or DX some time ago, but was put off by people who had said they were too sharp or too aggressive. Certainly, from my first shave experience, I have found the SS to be neither of these when fitted with the pro guard blades. I did just 2 passes, one WTG and one ATG. The result was very, very near BBS, and without any injuries or irritation.
If you have always wondered about the Feather Artist Club I would suggest giving this one a go. It's nicely put together and does exactly what it says on the tin. It's also stainless steel and considerably less expensive than the DX.:tu
Recommendation: If you are considering an SS, and you are an experienced user of straight razors, I would suggest giving the pro guards a miss. Go for another derivative of the pro blades or perhaps the professional blades.........you'll get a closer shave with less effort and more blades to the $/£.

Feather Artist Club SS.......First shave & I'm Impressed!
My son got the feather SS with pro-guard and he is on his second blade. The first blade lasted him 10 shaves. This second one is on the 13th shave so far. He is new to straight razor and I think they could last him longer with better technic.
I have used his feather 3 times now, with pro guard blades, and it is on my list to get one for myself. I think it is very similar to the steel straight and those pro guard are very forgiving (IMO), but sharp. Get BBS with 2 passes and minor touch ups.

Feather/CJB Holder made with parts from the work bench
I've just started using the Korean version of the Feather Non- Folding - the CJB Blade Handle WH100B.
First thing that comes to me is I need to have some kind of stand for this....and I don't have a lot of time.
So I take a page out of the "McGiver Handbook for Guys" and walk out to my garage shop and come up with a plan...with what is on the bench (and in the garage)
3/4" dia PVC
PVC 90
Cable ties
Adhesive cable tie mounting squares.
The 90 gives you two places to put cable ties, makes it stable and it gives you a place to stow two blade packs.
Dry fit the holder so you can take it out and rinse it off if needed.
