    Default Dovo 55

I have been in contact with the individual whose is selling this Dovo. He is willing to entertain an offer on it. I am enclosing pictures for the forums evaluation. Should I pursue?

If it were me, I would pass. Too much pitting and a lot of pitting on/near the bevel. Others may feel different. The razor is a hollow grind so there isn't much metal there to remove the pitting. Do note that valuations are not allowed in the open forum so as long as the conversation doesn't include money we're fine.

That was a nice razor - once. There are NOS 55's out there in the retail market if you have your heart set on one.

Evaluation as in condition not worth.

It is heavily pitted. When the pitting extends to near the edge, it is possible that honing will reveal pits in the edge rendering the razor unuseable. I've made this mistake and would recommend it be avoided.

Your money can be spent much better on razors that are in much better condition.

I have done some looking. Where can I find some NOS Dovo 55's?

I don't think you can anymore. You're few years too late. Best chance is finding somebody willing to part with theirs.
As far as this one goes it depends on how risk averse you are - may be it can be saved, may be not. You won't know until you attempt the restoration.

If you can get it for almost free, than buy it, maybe you will get lucky. Otherwise, stay away, blades looking like this can cause you some really big problems. I have bought a blade looking like this once, never again. I have honed it on a DMT8C for a lot of hours till I reached usable metal.

Well, made an offer for it at half the cost of $77.00 and the seller did not accept.
