Default Could someone tell me anything about his old blade?

Went to an estate sale today and picked up 3 straights and a 2001 Borsalino Alessandria (size 7 in great shape that will go on the sale block--couldn't see this nice hat sitting there, but unfortunately it doesn't fit ). Anyway I picked up a nice Wester De-Fi and a very nice American Products Hand Made plus this one. Can't find anything about it. It weighs about twice as much as the other two combined. Scales are broken, but the blade is is fine shape.

Sorry for the lousy pics. I'm awaiting some more sensor swabs for my DSLR.

Member "manah" will probably be able to assist you in finding out some information on that razor, he seems to have unlimited knowledge on these sorts of things. He may or may not see this thread though, if he doesn't or no one else can help out, you could shoot manah a PM.

Putley Borough is located in Herfordshire, England. Four miles West of Ledbury. I suspect a pretty rare mark. Thanks for sharing.

Putley is the name of the cutler, later to be Putley & Sons. The same company based at 114 King Street in the Borough area of London, as found in the 1838 - 1840 London Directory.

    Isaac Putley, manufacturing cutler.
114 Borough High St. 1846-1850, also at 44 in 1855. Only at 44 in 1860-1866. 127 Borough High St. in 1870-1875. 175 Borough High St. 1880-1890. 45 Pembridge Road 1900. More than likely the son of Abraham Putley. Isaac Putley had two sons, Isaac and Alfred, both of whom are listed in the 1861 census returns as Cutlers. In 1881 there is only a record of Alfred who is listed as a Cutler and Opticians.

Thank you everyone. Here is a snippet of a Texas historical book I found online that has some history of the Vineyard family. The razor came from the estate of Roy L. Vineyard (the youngest of 6) and his son Roy L. Jr. If this razor is as old as what it seems, it could very well be from Roy Sr. or farther back yet. I have no idea what the scales are made of. They are of an opaque, slightly translucent nature. Too bad one is broken at the pivot.

    A History of Texas
