Post Manufacturer XXXX out. Does anyone know which?

Can anyone tell me who the manufacturer might be?

Blade looks good, it shaves.... it has a small grind mark near spine

Original bone handle ground like it was an attempt to remove pivot pin.

    Second question:
When would they have crossed out the name? after they put the handle on?

I am hoping the reject was due to the handle discoloration.

Thanks as always for your great wealth of knowledge. I sure appreciate it!Name: Manufacture xxxx.jpg

That's a new one on me. Looks neat. I am sure it had some small defect or something. Maybe it was the stamp hence the x-ing out.

The only time I've seen that done was when Charatan pipes dissolved their association with Lane Limited. The stamped logos on the remaining pipes in Lane's possession were xxxed out in the same fashion and they were sold as 'seconds'. Not sure if that is pertinent to the discussion but I can't imagine any other explanation.

I have had three razors like that. Each was made in Germany and had that fact stamped on the tang. They were sold in England in the 1940s and 1950s, when anything of German origin was frowned on, so importers that had already bought-in stock had no recourse other than to obliterate the origin, otherwise it was not uncommon for shops stocking such goods to be boycotted or even attacked. Incidentally, this was also one of the reasons why some goods were stamped as 'Foreign' following WW2 rather than having 'Made In .....' whatever the country of origin was.

    Sad world, really.

    Regards,
    Neil
