    Default Cleaning, sanitizing old razors

What would be the best way to clean, sanitize, degunk old razors? I've bought eBay/Antique store razors and while in good shape they had years of soap scum and other crud in the crevices. I would like to make sure that whatever razor I'm about to use no longer has any of the previous owners DNA associated with it! It would also be nice to clean one of my razors properly before selling it to someone else.

If you're worried about contagion I doubt anything would be alive. In general I give the razor a good washing with anti bacterial soap and use some Q tips or even strips of cloth to get between the scales and around the pivot.

I soak new razors in either Barbacide or HYDROCIDE . For ~10mins brush then off and resoak for~5mins. The HYDROCIDE is about a 1/3 the price of Barbacide . They're commercial products used in barber and beauty shops.

I have boiled them with scales outside of the water...if the scales were gonna be trashed I would do it all together or take em off. If it does not have any gold wash I have also used Scrubbing Bubbles.
