Thanked: 235Thinking about a new razor storage solution
At the moment it seems like I either have too many razors or not enough storage. So I have decided to get more storage. I have my eye on a small vanity cabinet. It stands about a foot high and is about a foot wide. It has about eight draws with moulded plastic trays inserted into the draws.
My intention is to remove the plastic stuff and fabricate something to make little slots for each razor. The problem is that at the moment I just can't seem to envisage what the final design will look like.
So I wanted to ask you all, if you were making individual slots for each razor how would you do it? What would you do if this was for your razors?
Cheers,
Nathan

Thanked: 46Your storage problem is easy to solve. If you have access to Harbor Freight where you are, they offer an eight drawer, hardwood, tool chest. The drawers are felt lined and the top drawers have dividers that are perfect for razors. The price is reasonable at $60-$80 dollars. The lower price is if you have a sale paper. Good Luck, John

If storage is the issue more than display you could pick up a pelican case and cut the foam to however you want to fit each individual razor and those cases are practically air-tight.

This is a case I made for my razors, same solution should work well with drawers as well.

What did you / where did you get the foam?
I have a travel cigar case that I'm converting to razor storage, but the foam is lacking, so it needs replacing.

The foam is for tool cases, one huge piece you can cut as desired.
I got it from a tool company named Würth, don't know if they're in the US, but I think Snap On has something similar, probably several other tool makers/companies too.

Appreciated. Does it seem to hold the razors well when moved? That's more my concern, since the wife seems to have a penchant for moving my stuff all the time.

Thanked: 8if you go into ebay they sell foam for pelican cases in all sizes and even precut into cubes of an inch. so you can just remove to the design you want the foam to have in the end (means picking out 1 inch block at the time), but i have seen a guy in this forum that made a realy nice box for many razors in wood, but i dont remember his name but if you look thrue the section of old classifides you will find him cause he at least had pictures of it up in the forum.

I'm at work but if you look at the red cases, they hold my razors well. This was taken at the houston meet up. You can find em on ebay. good price also.
