Default Maestro Livi 8/8 ATS34 Briar Olive

    Hi folks.

After a brief worry at the weekend when the certifcate for my razor arrived without the razor, I came home from work today to find a package waiting for me.

After tearing it open, I was faced with this. A Maestro Livi 8/8 ATS34 razor, with worked back, and Briar Olive scales. Also 2 DVDs of the Maestro at work. The craftmanship is superb, and the attention to detail is very good too. On one end of the wooden box is a small version of the Briar Olive scales - presumably so when you have a large collection you can see from the outside of the box what's inside.

Thanks to both the Maestro and Lynn for making my day.

Here are some photo's, for you to look at. Now if you'll excuse me I have an urgent appointment with a pot of Proraso soap and a brush!

That's some serious razor porn, Iwan. Let us know how it turns out. Though I'm sure, from previous reports, it will shave like a dream.

By the way... how's that RAD therapy going?

Well as hoped/expected it shaves beautifully, about as close and comfortable as my 6/8 DD Satinedge which was honed by Lynn. But this is a very different beast, the sheer bulk and stiffness of the blade means it makes hardly any noise as it scythes through the whiskers. I'm very happy with it.

As far as the RAD goes, well now I have 6 razors in my tool roll and all the pockets are filled. However I have a japanese straight on the way, and I'm considering selling my 5/8 Bismarck as I'm finding its less comfortable to use then the bigger razors on my moderately heavy beard.

I'm also waiting to hear back from Lynn about Takeda steel availability, a Takeda from the Maestro would probably be the end of my RAD for quite some time.

We'll just have to see, anyway you say RAD like it's a bad thing!
