    Default Dovo Special Questions?

    New here, so hello!

Recently I picked up what appears to be a Dovo Special from a local antique store. The lady I purchased it from gave an interesting story about how she got the razor, but the dates that she mentioned don't really make a lot of sense. She said that she got it from her godfathers grand-father, who brought it with him to the USA from Austria in 1901. I'm not really sure how much of this is fact, but I like the razor and got it anyways. I was curious to see if anyone could tell me what I have here. The blade is engraved with "Dovo Special, Best Quality" and came with what appears to be a very old box, maybe original box. I can make out the words "Dovo Razor" on the box. Any input on the authenticity of the razor would be great, or really any information at all would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Dovo was founded in 1906 so that will tell you the credibility of the story. It does appear to be genuine though and they are fine shavers

    Welcome to SRP.
    I'm sure, it's a genuine DOVO.
    And it's a fine razor.
I see only some inaccuracies in the lady's story.
The DOVO company has been established on 1 November 1906 by Carl Dorp and Carl Arthur Voos.
And the razor was brought from Austria, it means not for export to the US. But all inscriptions on the blade on English. At that time, it was unusual. IMO.

That's definitely a vintage Dovo, hard to pin down a year or decade though. Congrats, get her honed up and enjoy!
