Default Any Orange County CA places to buy a straight?

Just wondering if anyone knows of a place on Orange County CA that sells straight razors? Or especially HONED and truly shave ready ones?

    Thanks!

Plaza Cutlery at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa has a selection of razors and brushes and can hone them up for you while you wait...

We have one in the Mission Viejo Mall, too. But I've heard that AOS razors aren't really shave ready.

The term 'shave ready' has mileage that REALLY varies. There are few vendors I trust that way. SRD would be where I sent the funds. My tastes aren't the new blades, but if you're starting out, a humble shave ready blade, such as the Dovo Best Quality from SRD is a worthy blade. I'm not sure if he does all of them, but Lynn does alot of them. That eliminates any doubt about the state of the edge.

SRD is NOT in Orange County, California. Plaza Cutlery is, and I can vouch for their honing without reservation. Like Lynn, Russ Delavan will show customers how to hone their razors. However the new-in-box stainless Dovo #41 that I purchased there in July 2010 has needed nothing other than canvas and leather stropping to this day. I shave with it on average four times a week.

I believe that Royal Shave is also located in Costa Mesa.

I can understand wanting to purchase your first razor from a local shop but your mail box is closer than and shop unless it is located in your home. Regardless of where you purchase your first razor be sure that it is truly shave ready. Purchasing one from an on line vendor with lots of experienced customer feedback is the safest way to get a shave ready razor. As noted above, shave ready has lots of levels of sharpness and not all sharp glades give a smooth shave. Good luck.
