Yay, my first razor I can't identify!
I found this the other day at an antique store. It is 6/8 and should clean up nicely and deserves a re-scale to do it justice. It needs a re-scale anyways since one scale is broken at the pivot pin. It has RASOIR EXTRA FIN etched on the blade and I can make out N FRERE stamped on the tang. There was more before N but that is not there because of the pin for the covered tang and more after FRERE but from being opened and closed the scales have worn that away also. I looked in the SRP library and could not find anything and google has not been helping either.
I have a suspicion that these are not the original scales due to the covered tang. I could be wrong though because the scales have been on the blade for long enough to wear off the rest of the makers name. I think the tang is ivory but not having anything to compare it to, I don't know.
I used some of the info from this thread http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...ing-ivory.html
I tried the knock it against your teeth test and it sounded close and here is a picture in direct sunlight.
Any help in figuring this out would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Marc
