I found this the other day at an antique store. It is 6/8 and should clean up nicely and deserves a re-scale to do it justice. It needs a re-scale anyways since one scale is broken at the pivot pin. It has RASOIR EXTRA FIN etched on the blade and I can make out N FRERE stamped on the tang. There was more before N but that is not there because of the pin for the covered tang and more after FRERE but from being opened and closed the scales have worn that away also. I looked in the SRP library and could not find anything and google has not been helping either.

I have a suspicion that these are not the original scales due to the covered tang. I could be wrong though because the scales have been on the blade for long enough to wear off the rest of the makers name. I think the tang is ivory but not having anything to compare it to, I don't know.

I used some of the info from this thread http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...ing-ivory.html

I tried the knock it against your teeth test and it sounded close and here is a picture in direct sunlight.

Any help in figuring this out would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    Marc

Well Looks like a nice french razor to me, that said rasoir extra fin means extra fine razor and frere means brother, as far as identifying the maker its not much to go by but someone here might have one of the same, you never know, and it does look like real ivory to me on the covered tang.
Any other markings on the other side maybe a number?
