Ebay purchase - old Bengall cast steel
Got this on ebay for $33...looks ok and worth the gamble

I like the idea of really old razors, and this one looks fairly old..does anyone have an estimate of a date for this razor?

Dead link but it is Item number: 251106422850 . If the scales are original to the razor my guess would be 1820s to 1830s. I base that on the scales being curved instead of parallel at the sides, and the tang and monkey tail being thinner. The old stub tails generally had thick or better said, wide monkey tails and tangs with straight scales, no curve at all.
