I have been wowed by the amount of tarnish removal I get by rubbing my blades vigorously back and forth on an old towel soaked in Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish. About $4 at your local auto parts store. It's got all my blades gleaming like mirrors, seriously.

Brad/Undream has a video on the technique in his razor restoration series here: Straight Razor Edge – Restoration and Custom Scales » Videos Look at Video #5: Blade Restoration, starting at 4:20. Yeah, he has buffed the blade he's working on to a near mirror finish already, but his technique will do near miracles on even pretty cruddy blades. Honestly, I'd watch all of those videos. As far as I'm concerned, they're the best instant resource on the web for anyone (like us) wanting to get their feet wet doing some modest razor restoaration.
