    Default Genco Safedge

I was perusing eBay and came upon this. This razor looks suspiciously like my Shumate Safeguard. The guard even looks identical.

I had a Safedge at one time. A bear to hone but a wicked little shaver. If I'm not mistaken, the Safedge's were made during the Case era of ownership of Genco.

It is a safety guard that attaches to the blade. The idea that you couldn't go too deep if you were totally uncoordinated to shave I guess. The bottom photo shows the thing better than the top one.

A buddy of mine had a Shumate safeguard. Said it was a real good shaver. I had never seen the Genco either. Pretty cool.

You also had to flip the guard over to shave opposite! I had a Safedge and a Case version. The guard was interchangable. I did not try them with the guard (regrettably), but in straight-shaving, they were both great! Great steel in those.

My Safeguard is a wickedly fast shaver.
