I bought this razor about a year ago, but it ended up in a box and sort of forgotten about for a while, I've had others that didn't need as much repair that I've been using first. I searched then, and have been searching again over the last couple days and haven't been able to find anything.....was hoping someone here might have some info on the manufacturer? Or help with dating?

I couldn't get a decent pic of the end to show the grind, and the other pics are crappy cell phone pics in bad lighting. Sorry about that, my digital cameras battery is dead at the moment. But it's a single grind, double shoulder, most closely matches profile IV in this chart:

It's a hair under 6/8 width, just under 3" cutting surface, slight smile. Scales are horn, wedge appears to be lead.

Now, I'm not even 100% sure on the name, I first thought it was I.L. Dewsnap, but while making this post I noticed the E in Dewsnap was missing the middle line, which makes me think the first initial was also supposed to be an E?

I just now found an Enos L Dewsnap, connected to cutlery and razor manufacturing. Found a reference to a guy by this name making razors in Sheffield in 1846, then another reference to a razor maker in the Transactions of the Connecticut State Agricultural Society - 1857, working out of West Cornwall, CT, but then other references of possibly being in Greenfield, Mass. in 1864. And an 1880 census report from Franklin, Mass with an E.L. Dewsnap born in England "around 1817".

Any help in figuring out which of these might be the right guy, or any other info, will be greatly appreciated

Ignore the white tape, it needs to be rescaled, but I wanted to hone it up and test it out before putting too much work into it. Took a decent edge, but I'm still learning with honing, and this is my first smiling blade.....so, it leaves a bit to be desired, but shows nice potential
