    Default Razor ID/Information

Picked up this old Sheffield a couple weeks ago, been trying to find some information about it but with no luck.

The stamp on the tang says "W.M.Jackson & Co, Sheaf Island Work, Sheffield"

Does any one here know anything about it/the maker?

    In advance, thanks.

I don't but that is a mighty handsome looking wedge. Bet it will be a smooth shaver.

Nice One! 1850-1892. I expect made by water power from the river Sheaf as were many makes. Thats about all I know. Perhaps someone knows more.
Nice scales, I hope you can save them.

That's about where I put since there's no "England" in the stamp.

Unfortunatly the scales where beyond rescue, I'm working on some new ones in some beautiful horn, I'll post some pics in the workshop when I'm finished.

Obviously I suck at searching, I think I previously just searched for "Jackson straight razor" or something like that....

When I searched again writing the entire text in the stamp I quickly found this:
William Jackson & Company, Sheaf Island Works - Pond Hill,* Sheffield, UK

Atta Boy, Zephyr. Thanks for the info AND the link. I feel that Cutler's hall link will prove valuable as well!

I can help you out. William Jackson was my Great Great Grandfather and was the owner of the company that manufactured these straight razors.
