Well, I've finished polishing and honing the Jernbologet. It's nowhere near perfect, but it's adequate for me at the moment. I've spent maybe five hours or so polishing with 400, 600 and 800 wet and dry. I honed it today doing circles on 800 wet and dry wrapped around a Norton 4/8 stone (I haven't got a 1k hone; time to get one I think), followed by circles on the Norton with a slurry until it cut leg hair, and then a pyramid thing of 20 x 4, 20 x 8, 19 x 4, 20 x 8, 18 x 4, 20 x 8 all the way to 1 x 4, 20 x 8 followed by 20 laps on the Shapton 16k. It feel good to the thumb, but tomorrow's shave will tell. I polished the leather scales with black shoe polish and a shoe brush.

You sure that isn't the relatively unknown, yet ultra rare, "ICEBREAKER" model?

You serious? OK, so I'm officially an idiot. I'm never going to live that down, I'll need to join that other shaving forum now.

Nah, just an honest misstake, I think you'll live just wanted to let you know before you got your ear or nose stuck between those "horns" (looks kinda cool though, like a Swedish devil )

And for joining "the other place": "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave"

On a more serious note, I think you've done a nice job with it, specially the scales. The shoepolish didn't have any negative effect on the stiffness?

Yeah, I actually thought of the horn thing too, pity it's wrong! I should have realised...
I know a lot of guys are on "the other place" and it seems like a nice place, but I spend way too much time posting here, let alone another place!
Thanks for the feedback. Of course it's not a serious restore, one day maybe I'll find out how far one can go with just wet and dry sandpaper and time. My trouble is I want every project finished NOW.
No, I didn't notice any negative effect. The scales were looking white, probably legacy from their shocking journey. I just thought shoe polish + leather = no brainer. Of course I did use Kiwi shoe polish, the best shoe polish in the world :-)

    NO WAY!!!!

I'm going to blame it on the razor. It got confused as it is upside down compared to where it was made, so, IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT!
