    Default Red-point 917

Picked this up for $30 at a local antique shop. Blade had minor surface staining and a few spots of rust. Took it from 1k - 12k micromesh then metal polish. Honed the blade on a naniwa 1k superstone then yellow arkansas, grey mystery stone, then dt, plm and mystery black (15k+). Razor is passing the hht throughout the length of the blade.Name: DSC02952lowres.jpg

It seems the only thing missing from this razor is the color from the circle on the scales. I've seen yellow and red online. Would anyone know which is the correct color for this razor and if so what would be used to paint/apply the color to the scales?

The Red Points I've seen have red in the circle and I believe it is painted on the scale itself, but please don't quote me on that. Someone with more experience than me will most likely chime in here shortly to verify info. Those are supposed to be some awesome shavers from what I've heard......enjoy!

Do you have any idea whether it's red or yellow though? I've seen both.

So, I'll definitely make it red BUT, what should I use?? Was this piece enamel? Paint?

From my own experience, I would suggest you use red paint that is used to paint model cars.
I find it very durable for use on razor scales.

Has anyone used nail polish or would the acetone do nasty things to the celluloid?
Hang on and enjoy the ride...
