Thanked: 0Another 'help me identify this razor' thread - Feinster Deutscher Hohlschiff ?
I'm trying to find any information on the following razor. The razor has the following markings
Feinster Deutscher Hohlschiff
Eugen Haering
Solinger
and the case
August Schebor
Messerschmied
Salzburg
Platzl 2 (Zeilereck)
I don't know a thing about straight razors, but as a woodworker, I do know a bit about blades and sharpening and this seems like a very impressive tool. I can't find anything about this in the straight razor database [1], but I'm only now getting my bearings on the wonderful resources this site contains so I may have missed something.
Any help folks can provide would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Thanked: 0Following up on my own thread.... and starting to break down the markings after spending a bit more time on this site.
Feinster (or Feinster Hohlschiff?) seems to be the manufacturer of the razor. There seems to be very little information about this manufacturer available from what I can tell. I'm assuming it was common to see smaller shops manufacture their own line but ultimately see consolidation in the market around larger firms.
The region this razor was forged was Solingen, Germany. Solingen, Germany one of the main knife making centres in Europe, produced high quality razors.
On the back is marked 'ICO 5/8' but i'm not quite sure what that means other than correlating to size. I have no idea what 'ICO' means.

Thanked: 3227I am not good at translating German but my take on your razor is:
Feinster Deutscher Hohlschiff > Fine/Finest German Hollow ground
Eugen Haering > Manufacturer
Solingen > Well known place in Germany for production of edged impliments
The Case
August Schebor Messerschmied > Owner of a Cultlery store
Bob
5/8 refers to the razors blade size, width of blade spine to edge.

Welcome to SRP.
Feinster (or Feinster Hohlschiff?) seems to be the manufacturer of the razor.
The translation of 'Feinster Deutscher Hohlschliff' is close to 'full hollow ground by Germans'.
Your razor was made by Eugen Haering, Solingen.Alex Ts.

Thanked: 0Thanks (to all)! It looks like I was heading down a bit of a wrong path on the manufacturers. Seems like I only got the location correct
'Feinster' was the only match under Manufacturer in the Straight Razor Database but the results were limited at best. I'm afraid Eugen Haering doesn't match at all. Does anyone have any information regarding Eugen Haering?
I'm happy to add this to the database if this is worth adding, but ... well ... i have no idea if this is worth adding
