Thanked: 0Acceptable razor?
Hey everyone!
I would like to try out shaving with a straight razor, but being a broke college student, i cant quite afford a decent one
I was wondering if a cheap $10 shave ready from eBay would work out as a test drive, in case i don't like it?
And if not, what is the significant difference between the pricey and cheapy razors?
Thanks a lot fellas

Your best bet is the classifieds here on SRP, a lot of enthusiasts with good reputations. You would be better off buying from one of them.

Thanked: 275People who hone razors and charge for it usually charge over $10 for the service. And (having honed some razors) I think it's a bargain at that price.
You'll need a razor, and a leather strop. Shaving soap, brush, etc, you can get cheap in local pharmacies.
In addition to the Classifieds on this site, try:
Whipped Dog Straight Razor Shaving Equipment
Larry's "sight unseen" deal is very good if you're on a tight budget.
Charles. . . . . Mindful shaving, for a better world.

Just a friendly heads up: Sales talk is prohibited in the open forum, we keep that to the classifieds and PM's, and linking to eBay ads we keep to the proper forum
To OP: Take a look in the classifieds, if a razor is advertised as shave ready there you can be quite certain that it actually is, and if you for any reason find that straight shaving isn't your thing you can always recoup aprox what you paid for it.Need help or tutoring? Check out the .
