Thanked: 3225Noisy DDs
Another quick question for DD owners. I have two DDs now and both are loud/noisy when shaving, more so than virtually any of my other full hollows. Is this a trait of DDs and are they more hollow ground than other full hollow razors.
It is annoying really as I like to rest while I shave and they keep waking me up from a peaceful shave.

Are you hearing a faint "quacking sound"?

Thanked: 247I've come across a good number of German made razors that seemed a little more noisy both on the hones and while shaving. I took it as a sign of good steel. But that's absolutely not based on anything. lol. I'm sure it has more to do with the grind like you mentioned. I have a few other 6/8 extra hollows that are just as noisy.

Sounds to me like they need tuning. I have the time and equipment required, just be aware that sometimes the process takes months. Get them in the mail pronto.

Yes, you see that's a special feature of DDs. On the original models right there on the box it used to say "the only razor that tells you what it thinks of you". So, your razors are telling you they want a new home so you'd better send them for me for reeducation.

Thanked: 884That "quacking noise" isn't the razor!
