Thread: Spanish point, French Point, Spike or Oblique?

This Spanish point is going off to a new home today and I thought it might be a good idea to ask you guys what point styles you like best. I tend to like French and Spanish points, myself, so that's what I've been making, but I'm not really making them for myself, so let's hear your preferences.

I've opined on this before, but I like french, spike, and barber tips. I always thought it was a shame that french points seem to be only found on the little 4/8 and smaller razors, because they seem to offer the precision of a spike without the nickiness. Never had a spanish point, so I can't opine intelligently there.

But mostly, I'm just bored with round and square tips.

My order of preference:
1 & 2 (shared) Spanish and French
3) Spike
4 & 5 (shared) round/barber's

Thanks... You know, I forgot to mention the notch point barber's style. I was considering making some slightly modified versions of that, too, but wasn't sure if it was the design, itself that makes these razors so attractive or simply the fact that they're old collectibles.

I'd stick with French for smaller razors and Spanish for larger pieces. Spikes are too common, I agree with you that barbers' are most likely attractive due to their collectibility and round points are only attractive on small blades.

I've never used one, but I think the French points look terrific.

I agree french and spanish are the way to go in custom and limited edition razors. By the way when you get your next razors ready to go give me a heads up.
