Default Help with History and Manufacturer of 14 "German Palmera"

I just received this razor yesterday and it looks exactly like the regular 14 Palmera, close to 15/16 width, a very heavy blade. It is half hollow and one side of the shank says 14 and Jose Lopez Sevilla. The other side had the palm tree logo with triangle or pyramid with dot on the right (moon?). To the left of the logo is FERD. HERBERZ&C followed by light vertical slash and what looks like an underlined F with an arrow at the top horizonal line of the F and underneath Solingen.

The toe is square but blunted at the edge. Cutting edge is 2 7/8 inches. Here are is a photo, but my photography ain't great. I could not get a clearly focused shot of the other side of the shank, so you'll have to go with my description.

As the seller said, as to why he sold it, "It feels like I'm shaving with a sword.".

    Thanks.

    Robert

    Good looking razor.

I like "shaving with swords" as he says.

    Here's a thread on the #14 razors: http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor.../65514-14.html

And here is my #14 Herberz within that thread: http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...tml#post904252

They are excellent shavers by the way, and yours looks in good condition. Congratulations!

Thanks, James. Sounds like a Spaniard manufacturing straights in Solingen, at least until 1939. It is one mighty razor. An odd feeling after shaving with my lightweight extra hollows.

So it is not really a Palmera, but sure looks to be a copy of 14 Palmera.
