My Keen Kutter and Perfect shave razors
I've inherited a few razors and among them I found a E.C. Simmons Keen Kutter which appears to be numbered 1288 and one marked "perfect shave" by little Joe. The problem I'm having is I cannot get either to take a shaving edge. These are not the first razors I've honed before and I've had prior successes. I've had trouble finding information on these two, especially the perfect shave, and was hoping to find someone who could tell me more about them. I'm interested to see if the problem is my honing or if these brands have known problems in taking an edge. Any other information about where they came from, what type of steel they're made out of and who made them would be great too.

Lessee some pictures! Simmons was a retailer, I believe. Rest assured, the razors they sold are top-notch in good condition. They may have had a factory in Germany. Many retailer's did! Someone will know. Where are you located? Let's see if we can find you a local mentor to help. PM me if you like.

False alarm on the honing. I was too aggressive in my honing and ended up with wire edges. Not a hard fix once I realized what I did. The top is the keen kutter and the bottom the perfect shave. These are from my great great grandfather and Hill was his last name. He had a habit of putting his name on pretty much everything as you can see.
