Default Antique Bresduck Dubl Duck Celluloid Straight Razor

I decided to buy this because of the Scales on the blade, I am not sure if its the original scale for this DD razor. Can any body tell me more about the scales and if its indeed came with the razor.

If they happen to be an orignal blade then, I will looking for a DD blade in the future, if not then I go with a W & B

    Many thanks
    George

Definitely not original. I think Oxford blade was. Nice scales! Vintage, not antique, IMO. Put something good in them!

Like Tom said, not original to the blade. What makes me leery about a blade in that condition is the fear of cell rot. Whether the corrosion on the blade is a result of neglect or that and cell rot. If the scales are gassing whatever blade you put in there will begin to rust. Keep it away from any other celluloid scales you have for the time being. Until you put a new blade within and determine whether you've got cell rot going on. Just IMHO.

Jimmy has a valid point. I, personally have not seen this type of Cel cause rot, but the ones the blade originally came in, Yes! LOTS!

Like they said the scales were put on later.

Celluloid rot can come in all guises. it's always best to leave new additions to your collection in quarantine for at least a month or so.
