Papa's Got a Brand New Quack...
So I went on a little eBay bender the past month or so… Pictured here are 3 razors that I had the good fortune to land. (Photo attached...)
The top one is an interesting Wade & Butcher wedge/frameback (I think!). It’s in kinda rough shape, but it was only $15, and I basically got it to serve as my first attempt at restoration. I’ve been gradually working on it over the past couple weeks, and it looks a helluva lot better than it did when I got it. I’m at the point with it now where I think I’ve basically exhausted my limited restoration skills, so – that can only mean one thing…
A trip to the Bill Ellis Razor Rehab Clinic!
The second is the mythical “Big Puma” that was discussed in an earlier thread. This thing is just a beauty to behold. Honestly, I haven’t shaved with it yet. Traveling, busy, holidays, blah blah blah… But I am way looking forward to it – tomorrow may be the day in fact if I have some time to touch up the edge tonight. This is clearly the gem of the batch…
The bottom piece is a really fantastic 5/8 Dubl Duck Goldedge. And this is the reason for my present state of unbridled joy… I know that Ducks have a great and loyal following in here (albeit probably more so the Satinedges…), and I now understand why. This razor, as you can see (well, sort of - not the best photo...), is in fantastic condition. I just touched up the edge, first with a black lithide hone from Tilly, then after a stropping and a test shave, with a 16K Shapton. 35 more laps on the leather, and… O--M--G. This just instantly became my favorite shaver. WOW! The smoothness and glide rival my Feather AC, and so far it’s given me the closest shave of any of my (rapidly expanding!) collection of traditional str8s. You’ll have to excuse me – I’m getting a little verklempt over here…
Sometimes, life really IS good…

With three razors like those you will only want to fondle them all day. Just remember to close them when you do!
I'm a DD fan for sure I have about 12 of them and they are all exceptional shavers no matter the model. I should change my sign on name to the "Duke of Ducks"No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 2A really nice set you've got there, you should be proud of them. However, if you feel your current state of verklemptness has reached an unsafe level feel free to send those evil verklemptifiers to me and have yourself a nice long rest. I'll keep them safe for you and won't even use them ... much!

Thanked: 79Wow.
Quite a good haul.
I especially like the look of that big Puma. Ducks are funny things. Seems not so long ago that satinedges were the "affordable" ducks.... and everyone wanted a wonderedge....good catch on the Goldedge, too.
Let us know how that Puma does. Looks awesome to me.

Maiden voyage with the big cat today. What can I say? It was another unqualified WOW. Fantastic. Sublime, even. The sheer heft and balance of that blade made chopping through 2 days worth of stubble an unmitigated pleasure. Damn, I'm getting spoiled! This group has really turned out to be an embarrassment of riches... Once I complete my limited restoration of the W&B, I'll be honing that up and... well, big shoes to fill, but hey - I think I'm on a roll!

Of the Ducks I have the only one I shave with is the Dwarf, I have attempted to get the Special #1 shave ready a couple of times but it's not there yet. One I got off Ebay has a nick in the blade and will probably never be shave ready and my Goldenedge I haven't tried to sharpen yet.
