Razor Storage?
Hi folks,
Does anyone have any suggestions as to boxes/pouches/holdalls etc for storing a number of razors?
I currently have a canvas chisel roll, which works ok but only holds 6 razors. I'm looking for something to store my whole collection (10 to 12 razors), preferably something that will protect them well and be easy and convenient to move around.
Ideally I'd like some sort of leather case, zipper or stud closure, with either individual pockets or elastic hoops inside to hold each razor securely. kind of like what's available for fountain pens - only larger to accept 8/8 razors.
I've looked all over and can't find anything so far. I remember seeing a Dubl Duck barbers case for sale once, it's that kind of thing I'm after.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

I have a Gerstner wood chest with drawers that holds about 35 or so razors. I find it ideal. They are kind of pricy but you can get cheap knockoffs on Eboy and even gerstner sells what they call their international chests which are made in the orient and look the same but are 1/3 the price.
You could also have Vlad make you a custom box. he did one for me which holds 12 razors. His work is exceptional. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

anyone want to comment on the use of a wooden cigar box they use when you buy a box of cigars?
while the size is good i was pondering over the moisture. cigars need moisture so are those boxes made to absorb moisture but also at the same time keep it humid in the box. humidity + closed box = not so good.
thoughts?

Thanked: 324I've got three razor rollups that hold between 50 and 75 each, three watch cases that hold 60 each, several cigar boxes I fitted with foam slots for razors and a whole bunch of mugs full of razors. Oh yeah... I also have a canvas and velour razor rollup for my regular shavers. I probably have some others I'm forgetting, too.

If you are talking about a humidor, do a search I remember a discussion about them but don't remember the conclusion. If you are talking about the cheep things som manufactures use instead of cardboard, the former is about the same as the later for putting things in it just looks a little better.

I would think a wood cigar box like they come in would be fine, as for a humidor it would also work just take out or do not use he part that keeps it humid I guess it's a small spong or something that retains some moisture. I do not smoke cigars but I have some friends who do. I'll ask them how it works.

Ah i hadn't thought about a cigar box, that could be perfect if i make some foam inserts for it. I don't keep my razors in the bathroom as it gets quite humid in there, I keep mine in the cupboard in the hall where the hot water tank and towels live. This way I know my razors are always dry, and not rusting away quietly!
I'll look out for a cigar box, thanks.

Thanked: 1If you look to fancier vendors, you can find nice leather tool rolls as well. Garret Wade carries them.

If you don't mind dropping $200 or so, Pelican makes some nice cases which would definitely secure your razors. Their 1495 case, for instance, is 18.87" x 13.12" x 3.81" inside (47.9 x 33.3 x 9.7 cm) which seems like it would be able to accomodate a large number of razors. Since you pull the foam out of where you want to keep things in these cases -- it's called pick 'n' pluck, if that helps you visualize this process -- you can also keep other razor related things in here. Toss in a couple silica gel packets, which have quickly become a favorite item of mine, and you'd be pretty set. It comes with a combo lock as well, for those who have little people in their house that shouldn't be playing with razors.
Someday when I have enough razors to rate one....heh.
