The same exact thing happened to me so I switched to Ballistol a couple months ago after wiping that sticky hardened up Camelia oil mess off my 30-odd razor rotation. So far the Ballistol has been working well.
Ballistol is pretty much top of the heap for keeping your razors happy. Been using it for years with nothing but good results. Word has it Hart Steel is now using it before packaging their razors to keep them safe during transport and storage before sale.
I put Ballistol in a Japanese applicator that is made for Camellia oil. I even like the smell of it...I put it on and lightly wipe it off so there is the slightest film. Before using the razor again a quick wipe with tissue....done.
