Looks like you have a lot of info already Goin's dates the Luna trademark from 1908, but also the works "Lunawerk" from 1928 to 1948.

Nice razor, I like the reverse writing for your own enjoyment in the mirror

Welcome to SRP. Nice razor. If you want to shave with it, and have no previous experience with straight razors , check out the SRP library beginner's guide. You'll find it in the toolbar above. If you need to have it honed to shave ready your best bet is 'member services' found in the SRP classifieds, also in the toolbar above.

Looks like a sweet shaver. The smile (longitudinal curve) caught my attention, and the appearance of the smile being flattened in the center. Re-establishing the smile will take some restorative grinding. While many can do that, your 'join date' would suggest you're new to the str8. If this is true, having the confidence of a profession restor and honing would seem especially well advised. Jimmy tells you right there.

I picked up a Lunawerk (special number 4?? - can't remember) quite a number of years ago now, and has been one of the best shavers I've ever had the good fortune to use. If you want to see it in action, it is the one I use in my headshave video (search the videos section, or not!)

Mine has black plastic scales and etching on the blade - no goldwash. Yours looks to be a very nice razor, and I sincerely hope that if you end up using it, it turns out to be as good a shaver as mine is!

The mirror writing is just because I took the pictures from my laptop.

Well my concern was if this is a good blade or not I’m completely new to straight razors and don’t want my first experience to be a nightmare due to a poor blade. I happy to hear you say that it’s a nice one.

The plan is to start shaving with a safety razor and when I feel comfortable with that I’ll move on and start with this straight razor. Of course I will have it cleaned and honed before and I was planning on sending it to theinvisibleedge.co.uk, I live in Marseille France.

I've got a couple of Lunawerk that are real good shavers. Steve at the invisible edge is a good honer. Check out the beginner's guide in the SRP library accessed in the toolbar page up.

You need to be real careful with any cleaning on the blade face, if you clean to vigorously you will love that gold-wash and all the pattern. I am talking about buffing mostly, there are ways to preserve it and I am sure you will do just fine. If you need any advice for your cleaning drop me a PM.
