Thread: Razor hone.

What's the avg time before a razor has to be re honed

There are so many variables at play here (razor, sharpness, stropping effectiveness, whisker thickness, technique, preparation, etc.), but my average is usually around 30 shaves, and even then all that is required is a quick touch-up.

You should make this a poll and everyone vote to how often they re-hone there razors. I think I re-hone my sheffield (touch up on a Coticule, not a full progression through the hones) every 3 or 4 months. Once a year i guess I take it down to 4000grit But my Dovo has been giving me trouble so i've re-honed that one really often to try to work it out.
