I think it reads "SHEPITTED"? I could be wrong

Doesn't have the arrow/maltese cross either. Not all of them did though.

I'd pay $22.00 for almost any W&B, good job.

Good luck with the restore. Look forward to seeing the pictures when you get it all done.

Yes, the F's do look like R's. The second 'E' looks like an 'R' to me as well. Maybe there is just some pitting and corrosion there that distort the letters?

Well it arrived today. I am shocked. I was expecting somewhat of a pitted, restore piece. As I got the box, it was pretty heavy. I opened it, and I just about couldn't believe my eyes.

It measures a full 9/8ths, and is a full wedge. There is not a speck of pitting on it, just the lovely old patina. The edge is sharp, and not any nicks or chips. "Sheffield" is marked very prominently, so it was just a bad picture. The scales look to be hand carved, so it will get redressed in some nice horn, and get a nice polish, and a good honing.

There is potential for chips once those black spots are part of your new edge. Not impossible to hone them out . Just a bunch of work.
