Did C.S. Bresnick make my Razor?
Okay all I have asked this question in two different threads, no answer so I figured I would make one thread dedicated to finding the answer. I have a vintage razor marked FAULTLESS http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...andfather.html who made it? The design on the tang is the same as the design on this C.S. Bresnick VESUVIUS Grim Reaper, http://straightrazorpalace.com/show-...im-reaper.html Does that mean they were made by the same manufacturer Bresnick? Does anybody have any idea how old my Faultless is? Any information would be most appreciated.
My FAULTLESS!

The pattern is made by a die so it's possible countless makers have the same one. No one knows who made the DDs. Maybe some day someone will uncover the truth. I don't think your faultless was made by the same outfit but one can never know for sure.
As far as the faultless goes you have a clue, the hardware outfit it was made for. Maybe with some research you can tell when they were in operation and that might be your starting point. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

I understand that the pattern was die stamped. I would not think that countless makers have the same one, would they? Does anyone else here have a razor with the same stamped design on the tang as the two above? I have also seen here that copycats or unscrupulous makers copied or made knock off designs or used similar looking trademarks to deceive people, I do not think that is the case here. I am not following you about the DD's if you would please reference a thread, so I could expand my knowledge base it would be most appreciated.
I am trying to research the hardware store but they have closed and the main building has been demolished, it is an empty lot on google maps street view. My father remembers it from when he was younger I will have to query him some more later.
Are there any styling clues that could be used to date the razor? As far as never knowing for sure, there is that much mystery still in these old shavers? I figured you old salts would have found all of the answers for us rookies by now...
Along with the same design I think that the razor names both being cool sounding and stamped in caps ties them together also?Last edited by dustoff003; 11-01-2012 at 10:42 PM. Reason: addition

The faultless was definitely not made by Bresnick. Bresnick put his name on all his razors.

We must remember that DublDuck (regardless of owner) and countless barber's supply/ hardware stores had razors made in Germany stamped with their names. Some had factories in Germany. Some paid others to make them. It is difficult to trace them to a particular maker at times. The way things were done/marketed. Only makers who were established and stamped should be confirmed. Most all were quality, thank goodness! JMO

Indeed, several DD's around here. As I stated, DublDuck was an importer and supplier. They sold everything imaginable from hair driers to hones. They had their products made with their name on it! Just like Sears Roebuck!
I have seen pictures of countless razor factories representing common marques. I have yet to see a picture of the "DublDuck factory"!
As much as you wish your hardware store razor to be made by Bresnick, It was not.
However, it is a distinct possibility they both were made in the same factory! Or not.Last edited by sharptonn; 11-02-2012 at 06:09 PM.

Does any one else care to comment on the matter of the maker of my Faultless razor, or is the above quoted comment fact?
If I can not figure the maker oh well, is there any way to approximate it's age?
Lastly does anyone else have a razor with the same design as the two in post one on the tang? If so please post a pic or two here.Aloha,

Quality photos of the Faultless
Here are three great photos of the Faultless, bet you can not tell who took them... Glen/gssixgun took them for me while he has the razor in his shop. He was able to get her all cleaned, shined, and honed without the need to unpin it. It was wonderfully restored and I can't wait to use it in a few weeks.
