Thanked: 116KPS - Karl Plumacher Solingen
Does anyone have any information on this manufacturer? Is it the same maker as the 'diamond' series razors? Could this be a gem of a razor? 6/8 round point, celluloid covered tang, next to no honeware, beautiful acid etch of Koln city on the front face of the blade.Posting pictures when I get home from work.

Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

Thanked: 116Here are the pictures, as promised! I have no idea what kind of material is covering the tang, my guess is celluloid but could be ivory? The tang covers are complete and in tact with original pins. Not sure if the scales are original, they seem like they might not match the blade but are in immaculate condition. The blade has 0 honewear and I don't think it's ever had an edge put on it. There are 1 or 2 'age' spots, probably watermarks that are faint and there is no pitting or rust anywhere. Tang also has jimps on the bottom and top. PLEASE let me know if you have seen anything like this or have any information for me about the age or manufacturer.

Thanked: 3226What a great find in such good condition. The Koln etching seems to have been used a bit Messer der Woche .

Thanked: 116I couldn't resist... This thing had never had a bevel set... I set the bevel using Lynn's method (watched his video of him using the chosera 1k) on a Naniwa SS 1k.
I used one piece of tape on the spine and this ting took a thinner bevel than my Filarmonica DT #13. After reading up on the pyramid honing technique, I progressed through 5k, 8k and 12k Naniwa SS respectively.
After 10 laps on a CrOx treated piece of balsa I did 20 laps on the Belfast linen side of my newly acquired Medal of Award 814 strop and finished it with 50 laps on the Scotch shell side.... This thing was passing the HHT prior to being stropped.
I know that doesn't hold much weight around here but I've never been able to accomplish that before. After stropping this thing sliced through the finest of my wife's hair with 0 effort. Needless to say, I am SO excited to shave with this thing tomorrow morning.... Unfortunately, I might try to sell it *sad face*
