Thanked: 4249Since the rebirth of this thread i did some more research about Barnsley Brothers Cutlery. originally called Barnesley instead of Barnsley, some online research claims that the name was changed between 1905- 1909, that said i did come across a small article in a book from 1904 using the Barnesley name.
An advertisement in Early 1907 for fence pliers, from the now changed Barnsley name make me believe the name change happened 1905-1906.
I have never seen a knife or razor with the Barnesley name, only thing i found with the original name was a strop.
In my original post i dated the company from 1898-1906, found a boat load of evidence from newspaper and books well after 1906, so this should be actually changed to 1898- 1915.
This from Monett newspaper from 1910, still thriving.
1914 Stockholders meeting.
This is from 1915 apparently relocating to Billings Montana, no findings that this ever happened.
As far as any doing or purchased with the Case company, i didn't find any concrete evidence of that, but it is mentioned here and there, without any public announcements. Not saying its not possible but from what i know about the Case companies they were pretty forward with their acquisitions.

Thanked: 1Very glad to find this thread. I received this as a family heirloom. The Barnsley came inside this Clauss box. Common knowledge seems to date the razor from between 1898 to 1906, but thank you for the info up through 1914/15! This razor says "Barnsley Monett" and has the number 116. So according to the info on this thread, that would place the razor from 1907 to 1915 assuming they changed the name in 1907. The box says "Clauss" and the small word above is "trade" and the bottom says "mark." All I can find is Clauss changed their name to Clauss Shear Company in 1889. Not sure if that means that box is from before that. Apparently Clauss merged with Henkel in 1919 to form the Henkel-Clauss Company so I would deduce the person bought a Clauss between 1907 and 1915 and put the old Barnsley in the Clauss box. If anyone can date these items or enjoys the pictures, great.

Thanked: 4249Buvoir, Welcome to SRP, thanks for sharing that beautiful razor, don't pay any attention to the razor box has nothing to do with the Barnsley razor whatsoever.
