Thanked: 0What is the difference between a Straight Razor and a Shavette?
Is the Shavette less sharp and would it be good for beginners?

Most would consider a shavette to be less forgiving than a straight razor and more difficult for a beginner to use. My point of view is that if you want to use a straight razor, skip the shavette step and go directly to a straight razor.
If you're interested enough to be considering a shavette, you'll probably end up using a straight anyway. I tried using a shavette starting out and found it to be a miserable experience.

Thanked: 4249A shavette has a replacement blade, meaning you dont have to hone the blade you just replace it, a straight razor requires honing.
