    Default Burr brand?

A search did not come up with a lot of information on this. Does anyone know if Burr is any good?
I came across a razor marked with Burr on the tang followed by Reg on one side and Made in Germany on the other. The blade has a nice etching with Extra Burr Superb on it. It also has a nice cross pattern on the spine and what appears to be some gold plating on the tang by the scales.

Is the brand Burr or something else?Name: Burr.jpg

Rarely have I met a vintage razor that I thought was just bad from the get-go. I've never seen a "Burr" razor, but it's probably excellent. Yours needs some TLC in the polishing and honing department, but it should be a terrific razor when that's taken care of. That's a nice catch.

Basically it is a C.F. Ern? Your right. That is a lot of names. I wonder why all the changes? Thank you both for your replies.

Man, I thought I knew upstate New York pretty well, but somewhere there is Martin103's place which must be some sort of cutlery/razor museum or library. I've just missed it all these years. I sure do appreciate all the information he pops up with though. It's part of my ongoing remedial razor education.

It certainly appears to have been a high quality razor. Worked spine, gold wash, blade etch and beautiful scales. Congrats on the find. I'll bet it shaves wonderfully.

I was looking at this on ebay too, was marked as a king cutter and in nova scotia (where i'm from). I think you got a steal!

I've had a couple of Burr straights. One was a 9/16 that was one of the sharpest blades i've ever owned. It was a freak.
