Oh no, I have a super badger EJ brush from BestGroomingTools.com - Double Edge Safety Razors, Wet Shaving Supplies, Barber Razors, Shaving Soap, Shave Brushes (good prices), it works great for creams, thick and soft. Not my favorite for soaps. It's all subjective, but I like the best badger for all around use. Soft but not flimsy, and just enough stiffness to work harder soap pucks w/out feeling like you are using a back scratcher to lather w/. Starting out for a good brush...hmmm, I would say around $40-$60, may find one on clearance or sale for cheaper. Alot of the price also comes from the handle material. I just buy plastic cause I don't see the point in having a $200-$300 brush; that's just me though. I would rather buy more razors, or creams or aftershaves than brushes, others buy 1 or 2 razors and hoard brushes like they're going out of production. You'll know soon enough where your priorities are w/ this stuff.

Just a quick note always check the classifieds here also, most razors are already honed and good to go, but srd is a great place to get that particular razor!

Nope pretty much got it covered. I would hold off on the more expensive brushes for a while, better not to spend $100 off the bat only to not like the thing. Starting cheaper then getting a more expensive one later kind of lets you see the difference between the qualities of the types of hair used too. Good luck!

Here it is, the final order. I am getting

Dovo Black Ebony Bismarck 6/8" Straight Razor
Your Strop - 2" Black Latigo Leather
Your Brush - Straight Razor Designs Silver Tip Shaving Brush #1
Your Mug - Col. Ichabod Conk Shaving Mug
    Your Soap - Sandalwood
Your Acrylic Brush Stand - Ivory
Your Pinaud Styptic Pencil - 1 ounce
World of Straight Razor DVD - Yes Please

By getting all of this as a combo, I got a great price. I am going to get the paddle strop that was recommended when I order my aftershave which will be depending on the delivery and such.

Congrats and welcome! I think you made a great choice though unlike some - I love AOS too.

Sure the big, bad, conglomerate bought them out, but personally; I think they have done a great deal for wet shaving. And I absolutely love their Sandalwood.

The truth of the matter is... I honestly don't know if I would have gotten into wet shaving if it wasn't for me walking into one on Madison Ave. in NY.

    Thanks Earcutter!

I also love the sandalwood, it is one of the things I was considering getting as a long term staple. I smelled it there and it was excellent.
