Thanked: 0Could use some advice please :]
Okay so I have bought a whole straight razor set for my bf this Christmas and I already have done the research and gotten everything. At this point I know more then he does about straight razors lol. However he has this old razor that he bought on a fluke and never used. I know he likes it because it has wolves on the blade and on the handle. So I swiped it today so I could send it to a professional razor sharpener, probably at straight razor designs. However I ran into a dilemma. I noticed that his razor is a Tomahawk and I know those are "bad" razors. Would it be even worth sending it in to get professionally sharpened, or should I not even bother?

Thanked: 13245As a professional razor sharpener, I can assure you that it is a waste of time
Let him admire the Tomahawk far away from his face

Thanked: 2591I'd say do not bother, the bad razor list is for razors that doe not take or can't hold an edge.

Thanked: 0Thanks guys!!! I am so glad I checked I just got it today and I was going to send it in tomorrow. That would have been a waste! BTW tiddle you are hilarious, I was actually thinking about getting a safety razor.....don't think I would ever need a straight razor :P

Good choice as well. Merkur makes a barber pole razor with a longer handle and a bit heavier than most, so the size is closer to what you are used to. Another bonus you can find packs of 100 blades for 20-30 bucks.
