    Default Newly Aquired Razors

I'm getting ready to venture into the straight razor world. When I told my dad he gave me five razors (these three are in the best shape). Not the best photo... The one on the right is a JR Torrey. The M Jung is in the best shape. But I really like the feel of The Celebrated (scales aren't in great shape and loose). I also received a really pretty Clauss, but it has a very deep chip in the blade.

I'm completely new at this - so any suggestions or feedback on which one would be best to start with?

    Welcome to SRP.
All beautiful razors. Clean them, hone them, use them.
Thanks for sharing them with us.

Get the Jung honed and take your time cleaning up the other two.

That's what I was thinking. My dad also gave me a hone, but he didn't know if it would be ok to use. It has a lot of chips around the edges. Seems like it would be alright as long as I stayed on the flat surface. I'll take that discussion to the proper forum though...

    Thanks.

Welcome to The World of SPR! It looks like you have one that will be ready sooner than the others. Either take your time restoring the other two like Hirlau mentioned or send them off to be restored. You did not have to buy them so the cost of the restoration would be like having to purchase them. If you bought them and then had them restored or purchased them already restored the cost would be much greater. Good luck and enjoy!

Welcome to SRP. You are truly fortunate to have three nice razors to get started with on your venture into SR shaving. Any possibility you can post close-ups of the individual razors, including the Clauss? I think you might get more feedback that way.

Welcome! That celebrated in the middle looks nice. I'm assuming it's a Wade and Butcher?

Thanks. It is a Wade & Butcher. Very heavy compared to the others.

I'm out of town for work right now, but I'll take some better photos of them and post when I get back. Thanks.

Nice, nice and nice. All will clean up well and all look to be in great condition, ready for just a good clean up and honing. You hit the jackpot, ply5013.
