Hello all. I'm new to the forums and new to straight razors. I think I'd like to use one but I don't won't to buy a new one. I found this for $1 at a local antique store. It has a diamond on the tang and I think it says Wilbert in it. Google told me it may be a Sears & Roebuck but I'm not sure. Does anyone have and info or can you ID this razor? Is it worth having it restored? Any recommendations for someone to do the restoration? Thanks for taking time to help a newbie.

I can not read the stamping on it so I could not tell you who the manufacturer is..it looks decent enough (although the pictures could be better ),
Restoration is one thing..cleaning It up and getting it Honed that is different..try just cleaning It up and getting it honed. It will be A bit cheaper and this way you can see if it is for you Or not.
Restoring will include things like repinning and sanding and buffing..stuff like that.

I'll get some better pictures and thank you for the recommendation. I think honing and cleaning is a better idea also.

+1 on the cleaning it up and honing. Most straight razors, you'd be amazed at how well they clean up with just a little work, the blade and scales both. There are many here that hone.
    And welcome! Enjoy the journey.

Wilbert was a great old American cutlery company.

Your razor could use some TLC and would more than likely make a fine shaver. The blade is worn, but the toe can be muted or rounded off to make it a bit more user friendly. I doubt that I would tie up a bunch of $$ in that particular razor, but it can make a great razor to learn with.

Here's a thread with one that appears very similar to yours but with more blade.

I've got a big 6/8 "BIG BEN" from Wilbert Cutlery and it shaves fantastically!
