W&B was around for a long time and has made razors of varying quality from good to excellent. Mine is great. I love it.

Wade & Butcher was probably the most prolific razor manufacturer in Sheffield, at least going by the ebay lastings. Most of us have at least one, and several of us have a bunch. They turned out a few duds, but most are excellent shavers, and a few are objects of serious razorlust.

It has moderate hone wear, but nothing serious -- it should give you decades of good use. The fact that it has been honed so much is also encouraging b/c it indicates that it was an effective shaver. The heavy grind will make it difficult to hone so make sure you do as much as you can on 1000 and 4000 before moving up to the coticule. You got a great price on it, so all in all you did well.

    I don't have a W and B, but my Wostenholm just rocks!

You can polish the blade with a Dremel, felt wheels, and some MAAS, Simichrome, or Flitz polish.

This one looks like it might clean up by using a Dremel, felt polishing wheels and their red polishing compound. I've had great results with those. If they don't have much of an effect you may have to get abrasive flap wheels from www.widgetsupply.com.
