Thanked: 0does anyone have an opinion on the Darrel Ralph Custom Razor?
Dear Sirs,
just saw some futuristic looking razors by Darrel Ralph, and wondered while they're cool looking how well do they shave? is the cost in the design and not the function?

DR is a respected knife-maker and does have some interesting designs. I don't know if any of our members have tried shaving with his blades so I don't know how they'd perform. However, I don't see his razors performing any better than a Livi (he should consider himself fortunate if he can get his blades to equal the Mastro's performance). Other makers like Bill and Robert came up with some very interesting designs that are more old-school yet beautiful, but since I haven't tried any of the 4, I can't really make a comparison.

Thanked: 2A few folks asked the same question in the first thread about these razors. The response was something along the lines of "pretty good I think, but I'm new to SR shaving..."
Based on that single review, I wouldn't shell out the $450 he's planning to offer his "daily shavers" at, at least not until I've seen a couple more reviews.

If his razors preform with the same high degree as his knives I would say that they would be pretty bloody good ,however time will tell
Kind regards Peter

Thanked: 4942I've have talked to Darrel and I believe he is trying to learn as much about straight razors as possible. I can't wait to try one of his razors. He really seems like a great guy.
