Thanked: 0"Karbono" Special Steel - SRD Extra
I inherited this straight razor from my wife's grandfather and was wondering if anyone knew anything about its history.
This is what I know about it so far:
"Karbono" Special Steel - SRD Extra
S.R. Droescher from Solingen Germany
Thank you!
Chad

Hi cm,
Welcome to SRP! I don't have any particular knowledge of the Karbono, but it looks to be in good condition and they are good razors. If you search Karbono in the search box at the top right of the page you'll get quite a few hits on it.
Also, if you're going to use it, I'd recommend getting it professionally honed by one of our members. You'll find a link to classifieds and vendors below. That's unless you already know how and have hones. You can pm "private msg " any of them with questions, etc..
Also reading through the wiki is very beneficial, link below also!!
Again, Welcome!! And if we can help, ask away!!
Best Regards,

Thanked: 46Hi Chad and welcome to SRP!!!!!
Droescher's are fine shavers. Yours seems to be in great shape, and will hone up just fine.
To have ancester razors is a great thing. I do not have any razors from my ancesters, but I do have two razors that were from my wife's side. Treasure the SRD as it is a honor to have it. With proper care it will last a lifetime.
Feel free to ask any questions, as this forum is here to help you with your journey in using straight's.
Very Best, John

Well, nothing special about the steel. Back in those days they would use all kinds of euphanisms to make their product stand out from the pack.
